I did something literal today that is normally only mentioned figuratively.
I stepped on an ant hill.

My onion horoscope today says it all:
Don't be afraid to ask loved ones for help this week. After all, they expect nothing less from a fuck-up like you.

I searched for my phone number today on google. I found two entries, both about DDR tournaments.

It sure has been a while.

I've been banging my head against an IE problem all day, and I learned a few important lessons:

* When submitting a form, IE does not send the key=>value pair associated with your submit button name=>value if you submit the form by pressing enter in a field instead of clicking the button.

* I've been using the wrong header directives to force IE to stop caching. It caches everything, even dynamic content you don't want it to like post queries that generate xml. To turn it ALL off, use this value in the 'Cache-control' header: 'no-store,no-cache,must-revalidate,post-check=0,pre-check=0,private'

* The network/tech guy actually can sometimes help you diagnose weird irritiating programming problems, just because he'll use your app totally differently than you do ( like actually CLICKING the submit button... who does that??)

I found a hole in the wall CD store run by what appears to be Jerry Garcia. I think he has several copies of almost every CD ever made. There are so many cds packed into boxes you have to pile the boxes on top of each other to look through them. I found a few gems in there today...

Pearl Jam - Lost Dogs
Duncian Shiek Self Titled
Sevendust - Self Titled
Buster Poindexter - Goes Berserk

Also picked up the death proof soundtrack recently. It's much fun. I still haven't found the original Buster Poindexter album. I have been stubbornly trying to buy it retail instead of online... unsuccessfully. If this place didn't have it, then it probably doesn't exist. :-( I guess I'll have to ebay it or something. Amazon has new copies for a fair price of $39.99

And somebody egged my car today. Got it cleaned up, but I think there will be paint damage. They better not let me catch them doing that again!

I took a new job in Pensacola at a fun and interesting place to work. So far, it is working out doubleplussgood. The stark contrast from a living hell work situation to the best working situation I've ever known is a shock to the system. I'm still adjusting. There is downside uncertainty, however. Firstly, the team I'm working with may or may not be around for another year, and past that, for another few years. Secondly, the decision for my continued employment is up in the air for four or five months.

Thusly, the living situation is going to be a temporary hassle. I don't want to sign a lease in pensacola until I know I get to stay on the job. But I'm not expected to know that until a month or two after my lease in mobile is over. I'll probably migrate to a storage unit until the unknowns reveal themselves.

I'm not adjusted to the changed pace. I like it.

Tomorrow! drive to mobile and cuddle my cat!

Sorry, no brawl for me. I haven't played the new one, but I thought the GC one sucked. Go ahead, flame me for it. I know ya want to.

Sooooo new job next month it looks like. If I'm lucky, I'll leave behind being poor while worked to death and get back to something normal.

This week I saw the proverbial vinegar turn into wine, so I think karma might be kicking in.

Waiting to switch the laundry and looking back through old LJ posts, it's so obvious how much more fun I used to be! For a few months I had been toying with the idea of totally deleting this journal. I've even started writing a tool using LJ::Simple from cpan to do it. I was thinking it didn't have any use to me anymore. I was thinking that, as I move into more and more respectable work having too much detail about my life on the internet might be bad. Reading back through to journal entries of 2004, I just can't bring myself to trash this junk.

Some interesting flashbacks...

Hurricane Report
FBI

Maybe I'll start posting again.
